Okay, I don’t know if it is fair to call this post a Date Night Adventure since I actually ended up stopping by with my kiddos. My husband was busy photographing a baseball tournament, so the kids and I decided to go check out the last Downtown at Sundown. As I mentioned in our Date Night suggestion post for June, the featured band was Rusty Metoyer and the Zydeco Krush. We have worked a few events with them and can honestly say they never disappoint! One day I am going to get them to teach my husband and I how to zydeco dance (what kind of Louisiana-ians are we?)

Lake-Charles-Downtown-at-Sundown-JuneThe event was PACKED! People who came prepared had their own chairs, and those who wanted to be a bit more mobile filled up the Clerk of Court front steps. There were many couples dancing together in front of the stage – just having a good ol’ time! In addition to the good music, there were vendor booths, food and drinks, face painting, and ample opportunities to socialize.

Rusty-Metoyer-and-the-Zydeco-Krush-TademyAmongst all the fun everyone was having already, we were blessed to witness a surprise wedding proposal right on stage! The groom called his future bride-to-be up to the stage while he explained that he brought her all the way from Charlotte, North Carolina to the event, and got down on one knee asking her to be his wife. Without hesitation, she said YES! It was such a beautiful moment to witness!

Downtown-at-Sundown-Lake-Charles-proposalThe next Date Night Adventure we have on the books is the Johnnyswim concert on June 25. This ends up landing right in the middle of some beautiful summer weddings for us, so I suspect a date night will be just what we need! We already have our tickets (you can get yours here)! Will we see you there?
